Outreach Department

Technical Assistance.Professional Development.Materials and Resources

The mission of Outreach is to provide technical assistance, professional development, materials and resources to families and local school districts serving children who are blind and visually impaired including those with multiple disabilities.


Multifactored Evaluation Clinic

At the request of the local school district, a multidisciplinary team conducts a mutifactored evaluation at OSSB for children with visual impairments, ages three through twenty one.

Outreach Assessment Services

At the request of the local school district, a team of evaluators with specific expertise in the field of visual impairment will travel to local school districts to provide consultative technical assistance.

Parent Mentor Program

This program provides support and resources to families of children with disabilities and the professionals who serve them statewide.

Center for Instructional Supports and Accessible Materials (CISAM)

This project assists school personnel in locating large print and braille textbooks, instructional aids and tools, and specialized equipment for students with visual impairments in the state of Ohio.

Infant/Preschool Outreach Services

Early intervention and preschool programs throughout Ohio may now access information and consultative support from the Ohio State School for the Blind through our new Infant/Preschool Outreach Services!

Summer Enrichment Camps

These camps provide enrichment for children who are blind and visually impaired, grades 3-12 from schools throughout Ohio
