OSSB Band in Tournament of Roses Parade

The Ohio State School for the Blind, the ONLY BLIND marching band in the nation, possibly the world, have applied, and their application has been accepted to march in the

2010 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE!

Co-Directors are Dan Kelley and Carol Agler. The band became a marching band in 2005 when the Ohio School for the Deaf revived its football program after a 30+ hiatus. There are currently 35 members in the band and about as many sighted marching assistants. The 2008-2009 17-member band performed at an Ohio State University Skull Session in St. John Arena. Video of that performance can be found below.

Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band Schedule

THURSDAY, February 11, 6:30 P.M.  OSSB Auditorium.
OSSBMB Presents Pasadena!  The band will play, we’ll see videos and pictures, trophies, etc.  We’ll hear from the students about the trip and what it meant to them.  We’ll thank all those that supported us.  The public is encouraged to attend!  Marching Assistants, please wear your uniforms!

Tuesday, February 16, 6:00 p.m. OSD basketball game vs. Northside Christian.  Leave at 5:00 p.m.  Return by 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, February 18, 2:15 p.m. OSSB Gymnasium
Perform in uniform for Recognition of Service Ceremony.  1-2 adult marching assistants would be helpful. 

Tuesday, March 2, 7:00 p.m. Perform with Lancaster Community Band at Ohio University Lancaster Campus auditorium.  Marching Assistants needed in uniform.  Leave OSSB at 5:15 p.m.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 12:30 p.m. High School band performs with Hathaway Brown Upper School Orchestra in OSSB auditorium. 

Monday, April 26, 2010 9:00 a.m. Perform for Ohio Department of Education meeting at Riffe Center.  1-2 adult marching assistants needed in uniform.

Thursday, May 20, 2010 6:30 p.m.
Spring Concert at OSSB.  Perform.
