The Ohio State School for the Blind, the ONLY BLIND marching band in the nation, possibly the world, have applied, and their application has been accepted to march in the
2010 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE!

Co-Directors are Dan Kelley and Carol Agler. The band became a marching band in 2005 when the Ohio School for the Deaf revived its football program after a 30+ hiatus. There are currently 35 members in the band and about as many sighted marching assistants. The 2008-2009 17-member band performed at an Ohio State University Skull Session in St. John Arena. Video of that performance can be found below.

Tues. August 31, 2010 Music & Marching rehearsal 5:30-7:30 p.m., OSSB students & Marching Assistants (Tuesday night 5:30-7:30 p.m. MUSIC (not marching) practices for OSSB students only will be held as needed from this point on, and will be announced when necessary.)
Wednesdays, Sept. 1, 2010 6:00 p.m. Millersport Sweet Corn Festival Parade. Leave OSSB by 3:30 p.m. We are to be in formation by 5:15 p.m. at Millersport Elementary School, corner of Main and Lancaster Street (Route 204), Millersport, OH. Directions from OSSB: 71S to 70E to exit 126 (OH-37). South (right) onto OH-37, left onto OH-204 (Blacklick Eastern Rd) through Millersport. Go 4 blocks and turn left onto Main Street to Millersport Elementary School. Buses and vans will unload near the fenced basketball court. The band and marching assistants will be in their summer uniforms (black slacks and band t-shirts). We hope to return to OSSB by 9:00 p.m.
NO marching practice Thurs. Sept. 2
Thurs. September 9, 2010 5:30-7:30 p.m. Marching Practice with marching assistants. This is a VERY important practice—our last before the Bexley game.
Tuesday, September 14, 9 a.m. March in a short parade and do a short concert at Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Center, 1601 W Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43222-1087. Marching assistants, please let me know if you are available (and if you can/cannot meet us there) so that I can get volunteers at that location for our short parade. We will leave OSSB by 8:15 if possible, in uniform.
Thursday, September 16, 2010 Bexley High School Football Game. We are invited to the band spread before the game, too. We will do our half-time show during half-time.
Thursday, September 23, 7 p.m. Sunrise of Worthington concert. Meet in the band room at 5:30 p.m. to dress in uniform. Some marching assistant help is needed.
Thurs. September 30, Marching Practice 5:30-7:30 p.m. with marching assistants
Thurs. October 7, Marching Practice 5:30-7:30 p.m. with marching assistants
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 Fairfield County Fair. March through fairgrounds and present 15-20 minute concert afterwards. Marching assistants needed.
Thurs. October 14, Marching Practice 5:30-7:30 p.m. with marching assistants
Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 8:00 p.m. Circleville Pumpkin Show Parade. Change into uniforms at 5:00 p.m. Depart at 5:30 p.m. Carpooling will be necessary for Marching Assistants. I’ll be able to transport 6-7 in the school van.
Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 10:00 a.m. Ohio State University Skull Session St. John Arena, 410 Woody Hayes Dr. We’ll march Script Braille “Ohio” in the arena (Not the stadium). Marching Assistants Necessary in uniform. Leave OSSB by 8:00 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 1:30 p.m. Ohio School for the Deaf Homecoming Game. Marching Assistants Necessary in uniform.
Friday, November 5, 2010 11:00 a.m. Columbus Veteran's Day Parade (IF we have the necessary marching assistants!) Please let me know now if this is not possible.
Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 6:30 p.m. OCALI conference, Greater Columbus Convention Center (Marching Assistants needed). We will leave OSSB by 5:30 pm
